RYMCO & Zardman Bring Lotus to Lebanon

01 March 2012

Lotus, the British racing and automotive icon, is returning to Lebanon, with RYMCO and Zardman winning the highly-competitive bid to represent the legendary brand. On March 26 2012, for the Middle-Eastern launch, Lotus Cars Lebanon threw an exclusive event at Beirut’s MAD nightclub, Lotus F1 Team driver and former World Champion Kimi Raikkonen and Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar in attendance.  A select number of lucky fans got a chance to see the cars first hand at the event titled “Lotus is Back” featuring the current line of Lotus gems.

Lotus, founded by racing legend Colin Chapman, is the industry benchmark for ride and handling. These cars are telepathic to a driver’s touch. They are agile, uncompromising, simple yet technologically prodigious. The design, materials and manufacturing processes are state-of-the-art, the engineering visionary, and they are hand-built in England by passionate artisans obsessed with performance, refinement and dynamic excellence.

“The Lebanese are very much car lovers, and are very proud of the various automotive brands in the country. We (Lotus Cars Lebanon) really wanted to be the ones to bring such a legendary automotive brand to the local market. This exclusive and independent investment will be under a separate and unique management with primary focus on luxury sports vehicles” explains Mr. Fayez Rasamny, CEO and Chairman of RYMCO and Lotus Cars Lebanon. Of all the worldwide bids, Lebanon was the most competitive, as RYMCO and Zardman united their expertise and delivered a winning proposal that is bringing Lotus back to Lebanon, and establishing the first showroom in the Middle-East.

Group Lotus, headed by CEO Dany Bahar, is coming to the end of the second year of a five-year business turnaround plan to reinvigorate the brand “The new Exige S model is in high demand, and the newly released Evora GTE road car is already receiving a very high number of orders. Lotus is scheduled to take the year ahead by storm”, said Bahar.

Bahar was joined by Montaser Al Kuzbari CEO of Lotus Middle East, Fayez Rasamny, CEO and Chairman of RYMCO, Guy Manoukian CEO of Zardman, Tarek Zard, Chairman of Zardman and Fouad Al-Gharib Board Member of Lotus Cars Lebanon, as well as a special appearance from Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen, as Lotus put a new thrill into one of Lebanon’s latest nightlife offerings.

RYMCO (Rasamny-Younis Motor Company S.A.L.) holds a majority market share in the vehicle retail industry, has long been a leading automotive dealer in Lebanon, representing several brands, and offering a vast product range in its portfolio. The dealership, established in 1957, is the only automotive dealer to be listed on the Beirut Stock Exchange, and adds an unrivaled local industry experience to Lotus’ presence in the market.

Zardman is known for its distinctive architectural designs and its creative management expertise, which has resulted in strategic investments in both residential and commercial real estate. Their vision and innovative management style bring an all-important added value to the partnership structure of Lotus Cars Lebanon. Led by Guy Manoukian, Tarek Zard and Christian Manoukian, Zardman is currently developing significant projects in Lebanon and abroad.
